Dublin is an amazing community recognized nationally for its quality of life. With our safe neighborhoods, downtown vision, diverse residents, great schools and parks, and stunning open spaces, I cannot think of a better place to raise my children.
But Dublin also faces a number of challenges: worsening traffic congestion, development pressures, aging city infrastructure, and threats to our long-term financial stability due to COVID.
As your Mayor, Melissa will…
Retain and Support Dublin’s Businesses: Please join me in supporting beloved local businesses as we re-open together! I spearheaded a micro-loan program for existing businesses who need a hand, and I will work to attract new neighborhood-serving businesses that revitalize and stabilize our community. Since my first day on council I have lead the effort for the Downtown Preferred Vision Plan. This will add the much needed infrastructure to downtown. A campaign promise that I am proud to say is moving forward.
Improve Neighborhood Safety and Emergency Medical Response Capacity: I am honored to be supported by Dublin’s First Responders and Alameda County Firefighters for my work to maintain our safety and strengthen our 911 medical response time. I will make sure Dublin is prepared with life-saving emergency medical response and fire prevention to keep our residents safe.
Reduce Traffic and Protect Dublin’s Open Space: A frequent concern I hear from my neighbors is: traffic, traffic, traffic. Traffic affects our quality of life and clean air– Dublin must be prepared to address these challenges into the future. I will work to preserve Dublin’s beautiful open spaces for future generations—and fight Sacramento so we maintain Dublin’s Local Control over our own housing and growth decisions. While Melissa has been on council:
*Adaptive signal technology has been added to improve the current infrastructure.
*Melissa, while on LAVTA board, had bus routes approved to Schaffer Ranch for the students that attend Dublin High School.
*Championed smart growth, and demanded developers pay their fair share.
Expand City-School Partnerships: As a mother, and parent of Dublin students, I know that maintaining our excellent quality schools makes us a stronger community. I will work collaboratively with our school leaders as they make decisions to address overcrowding and maintain optimal class sizes. I will seek opportunities to ensure that future development in Dublin provides benefits to our schools, and I will commit to supporting the health and wellness of our students and teachers during these uncertain times.
